Health Freedom Coalition?
Grass roots and practitioners
in Madison for
Department of Regulation and Licensing (commonly referred to
as Reg & Licensing by politicians) hearings.
WIHFC is a Wisconsin
nonprofit 501(c) 4 lobbying organization for social justice
supporting an exciting new
Consumer Health Freedom and
Access Act in Wisconsin in the 2009 to
2011 legislative session.
Without legal protection,
tribal healers
and
Grandmas providing
non-toxic
herbs and oils
from their kitchens
to their families and relatives
will be fined
and prosecuted by Reg & Licensing
(Wisconsin Department of
Professional Licensing). Average cost in fines and legal
fees: $18,000!
WIHFC membership
includes grass roots support, licensed and unlicensed
practitioners who advocate legislative reform to protect the
complementary healing arts in Wisconsin.
According to a major new study, 39,170 people die
unnecessarily, and 301,513 have severe health problems in
Wisconsin due to the problems inherent in the approved
American Health Care System - and nothing is being done

WIHFC will oppose an WDA
(Wisconsin Dietetic Association) licensing
bill that was defeated last session and will be
re-introduced in the 2009 to 2011 session. The WDA bill
would allow only licensed dieticians and a few other
licensed professions to discuss nutrition. We see this
as a freedom of speech issue.

A person quoting Benjamin Franklin's famous quip "An apple a day will
keep the doctor away" would be subject to state prosecution
and fines if the
WDA
bill is passed.
Story of Ohio Dietetics Board
Prosecution:
Dr. Pam
Popper, owner of The Wellness Forum in Ohio, began her fight
with the Ohio Dietetics Board in 1997. For the next 4 years
Dr. Popper was forced to hire two attorneys, subpoenaed to
turn over client and instructor information, as well as
class outlines for everything on The Wellness Forum
calendar, and even threatened with jail.
Her story
is not uncommon across the country. Rouge dietetic boards
are trying to establish themselves as the only people who
can talk about nutrition. They do this by passing “turf
protecting” laws under the guise of consumer protection.

Practitioners in
Wisconsin are being investigated and
prosecuted by Reg
& Licensing (Department of Regulation and Licensing). Because
Wisconsin state laws that govern medical practice are so
broad in scope, they restrict almost all complementary
health care practices. Unlicensed complementary health
practitioners are vulnerable to charges of practicing
medicine without a license. Licensed health care
practitioners such as physicians and nurses are at risk of
losing their licenses when using holistic therapies deemed
outside the standard prevailing practices of traditional
medicine. In fact, there has been a concerted effort by the
state Reg & Licensing to shut down the practices of mercury free
dentists, chiropractors and other practitioners using energy
healing, and physicians using chelation therapy. Reg &

spending Wisconsin tax dollars to hire Quackbuster representatives to
prosecute practitioners
and to eliminate these healing

What is the net effect?
The freedom of
Wisconsin citizens to choose their health practitioners is
being limited and will likely be more severely limited in
the future.
Dedicated to legislative
reform to ensure Wisconsin residents receive:
- Continued access to healthcare
services through our many licensed and unlicensed
healing arts professionals, legally and safely.
- Promote perpetual access, without
the need of a doctor’s prescription, to food supplements
in potencies above the RDA, herbs, herbal products,
essential oils and all natural health care products.

Promote freedom to teach basic concepts that promote
wellness, exercise and whole food nutrition, without
fear of being charged with violating the Wisconsin
Health Professions Codes, as well as freedom to receive
an education in all
complementary and natural health care modalities.
